In a significant move to strengthen international relations and support Ghanaian students abroad, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), led by its President, Daniel Korley Botchway, paid a courtesy call to the Czech Republic Ambassador to Ghana yesterday.

The meeting, held at the Czech Embassy in Accra on Tuesday 21st January 2025, was graced by the Ambassador, his Deputy, and a high-powered delegation from NUGS. Representing the union were President Daniel Korley Botchway, the NUGS Secretary for International Relations, the Secretary for Societies and Welfare, and the Business Development Manager.

The discussion focused on fostering future partnerships between the Czech Republic and NUGS. Key agenda items included the establishment of a NUGS branch in the Czech Republic to serve as a support hub for Ghanaian students studying in the region and the exploration of collaborative opportunities aimed at improving the educational and professional prospects of these students.

Ambassador expressed his enthusiasm for the proposals, acknowledging the potential for enhanced bilateral relations between Ghana and the Czech Republic in education and cultural exchange.

President Daniel Korley Botchway highlighted NUGS’ dedication to advocating for students both locally and internationally. “Our goal is to ensure that every Ghanaian student, regardless of their location, feels the impact of NUGS. By establishing a branch in the Czech Republic, we can better address their unique needs and foster a sense of belonging,” he remarked.

The meeting ended on a hopeful note, with both parties agreeing to maintain open communication and work towards actualizing the discussed initiatives.
