NUGS EDUCATION CONFERENCE 2.0: A Historic Gathering at UPSA Auditorium

On Monday, April 22nd, a landmark event took place at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Auditorium, as the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) hosted the Capital’s Edition of the Education Conference. This momentous occasion brought together students from all levels of education, along with esteemed guests and stakeholders in the education sector.

The conference featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including:

– Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister for Education
– Dr. Eric Nkansah, Director General, Ghana Education Service (GES)
– Mr. Robin Todd, Executive Director, T-Tel
– Nana Akwasi Awuah Esq., Managing Director, PMMC

The President of NUGS, H.E. Daniel Oppong Kyeremeh, addressed the gathering, highlighting pressing issues affecting students in Ghana. Key points included:

– Depoliticization of education to ensure continuity of projects and programs
– Uncapping the GETFund to increase its capacity to support education (with a threat of protest if not addressed)

The President also commended the Minister for Education for his innovative transformation in the sector and the reintroduction of agricultural studies.
