NUGS CALLS ON THE GOVERNMENT TO RELEASE FUNDS TO SLTF

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) speaking on behalf of Ghanaian-affected students on the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) cries to the government to purvey funds to the SLTF for frontward allotment to the legatee as student subsist deferment in their affiliated institution of study. The president of the union, Mr. Denis Larbi Appiah-Ampofo with his team when brought on to open formal discussion on student related concerned issues with the president of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Akkufo Addo, petitioned the government to acquit funds for the SLTF for onward disbursement to qualified students. The NUGS President revealed a large sum of students from various institutions who had signed up for loans suffered deferment in their place of study due to late payment of loans and if care is not taken a huge number of good but financially vulnerable students will have to drop out of university. It’s understood beneficiaries depend on these loans to settle fees and other school expenses. Students are suffering. Especially in these recent times of global economic hardship.

Up to the close of the meeting, the government of Ghana promised to release funds to the office of the Student Loan Trust Fund to ensure our students are settled on what is due them.
