NUGS APPLAUDS TEACHER UNIONS FOR CALLING OFF THE STRIKE

The National Union of Ghana Students, NUGS on behalf of all tertiary students wishes to augment a heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry of Education, the National labour commission, the Ghana tertiary education commission, and all actors on behalf of the government together with the University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG and other labour unions for calling off the strike effective Tuesday, 13 December 2022.

As stated in our previous communique, the consequences of these strike actions are devastating to major academic and administrative activities. Prior to that, we as a union once again want to state clearly that the frustration and unrest are real and managers of the education sector should place at the center of their actions the damaging impact of these strikes on the future of our students and country.

Whilst showing praise and appreciation, we call on all relevant stakeholders to aid mitigate the strike issues in our numerous colleges of education to ensure that CETAG calls off its impending strike as soon as possible.

We will proceed with the boardroom dialogues until such a time when education is no more treated as a privilege. Aluta Continua!
