NUGS President Joins the Director General of GES and other Educationists in Monitoring the Ongoing BECE

As the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) kicked off on Monday 8th July 2024, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), President H.E Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel, the joined the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, and other educationists to monitor the examinations at various centers in Accra.

The BECE, which started on July 8th, 2024, will end on Monday, July 15th, 2024, and will see a total of 569,095 school candidates sit for the exams. The President of NUGS registered the name of the union in this important exercise, which marks a significant milestone in the educational journey of these young minds.

Accompanied by Madam Justina Djabah, Director General Administration, Mr. Stephen Abamfo, Greater Accra Regional Director, and other GES officials, the team visited three exam centers in Accra, including Osu Presbyterian Girls’ Basic School, Private Odartey Lamptey Memorial Basic School, and Accra High School.

During the monitoring exercise, the team observed the examination process, interacted with the candidates, and assessed the overall conduct of the exams. He took the opportunity to encourage the candidates and wish them the best of luck in their exams.

In an engagement with H.E Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel ,he had this to say …

“The monitoring exercise aimed at ensuring a smooth and successful examination process, and I commend the GES ,WAEC and all stakeholders for their efforts in organizing this year’s BECE. As NUGS President, I reaffirm our union’s commitment to supporting the educational endeavors of Ghanaian students and promoting academic excellence.

I wish all the candidates the best of luck in their exams and look forward to their success.

The Union is set to role out a stipend scheme to support over 300 students with special needs in our various Universities,launch the NUGS farms and other substantive students advocacies.
