DANIEL KORLEY BOTCHWAY “DKB” TOPS NUGS PRESIDENTIAL VETTING

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) successfully conducted its vetting for prospective national executives on Thursday, August 31 and September 1, 2024, at the NUGS Secretariat in Accra. The vetting, a crucial step in ensuring the competence and readiness of candidates seeking to lead the Union, was conducted in a transparent and professional manner by the Vetting Committee.

The process saw several candidates for various portfolios present their vision, policies, and leadership experience before the committee, made up of seasoned stakeholders and advisors of NUGS. The aim was to assess the candidates’ capacity to deliver on the Union’s mandate and to uphold the principles of leadership, integrity, and service to students.

Daniel Korley Botchway, one of the aspirants for the presidency, emerged as the top-performing candidate amongst the presidential aspirants, impressing the Vetting Committee with his articulate responses and well-thought-out plans for the Union. His presentation highlighted key policy areas, including improving student welfare, advocating for financial aid, and enhancing the visibility and impact of NUGS across Ghana.

The committee noted Daniel’s track record of leadership as a former SRC President of Central University and his current role as NUGS Special Projects Director. His experience, coupled with his innovative proposals, earned him high scores and commendation from the panel.

Other aspirants also demonstrated commendable leadership potential and passion for serving the student body. The Vetting Committee emphasized that all candidates met the basic eligibility criteria and showed dedication to advancing the interests of Ghanaian students.
