The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) as part of its vision and commitment towards youth development in Ghana paid a fraternal visit to the leadership of the National Youth Authority (NYA) on Monday, 16th May 2022 in their bid to open a pipeline for a joint partnership in serving the youth of Ghana.
Chief among the policy programs that were presented to the Leadership of the Authority by the Union which was led by the President, Mr. Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo was the National Students Volunteer Program (NSVP). The Union envisions that through the NSVP students will have the opportunity to work for hours in various companies for dual purposes of financial benefits and eliminating the problems of experience deficits of fresh graduates.
The Girl Power initiative, the NUGS Festival and many other projects of which have it focus on the youth – student bracket were all discussed.
The President of the Union, Mr. Dennis Appiah Larbi indicated that “we at the National Union of Ghana Students believe that the importance of NYA in the affairs of youth and students in Ghana cannot be downplayed and as such assures Ghanaian students of our continuous advancement of various opportunities that will commit the Ghanaian students to a progressive course”.
The CEO of the Authority, Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide reckoned on his gratitude to the Union in its efforts for a collective collaboration towards serving the youth bracket who forms a greater percentage of this country. He emphasized that the Authority fully endorse any initiative of the Union that enjoins the policy modules of the Authority and that such full bilateral cooperation will be needed in the education module of the Authority.
Among the worries of the Authority is the growing unethical internet behavior of our youth class and the lack of proper information Management system which tend to breed a lot of misinformation on various channels and platforms, coupled with the proliferation of numerous student groups which undermines the unity of the student front. He ended by urging the Union to be students focused to regain our highly regarded stakeholder image whiles being on guard for any partisanship or political infiltration which undermines same.
Present at this meeting was the Executives of the National Union of Ghana students, the CEO of NYA, Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide, Deputy CEO- Finance and Administration, Akosua Manu, Mr. Anaman Mensah, Director – Administration, Mr. Ekow Eshun, Director of Human Resource.
